If someone said that an appliance of yours wants A.B.C. parts, would you pay it without Question? If someone phoned you like an elderly person in our area, some Bastd phoned her up to say she had won £250.000 but it's going to cost her £7.000 to claim it, result she lost the lot. ( Id like to meet them basdrds! scum of the earth) are you this Gullible? if your car went in for a service & you where told, it needs this / that/ would you question it?
I d on't think I am easily taken in by people, but to be honest in a life time have been scammed a couple of times, Off guard , taken in whatever, all part of living I am afraid.
Do try now very hard indeed not to let others into my handbag , but in the future who can tell what foolish decisions you may make.
I think everyone gets scammed once in their lifetime and they learn from their mistake to never to let it happen again. These elderly people who get scammed are usually lonely and a friendly voice on the end of a telephone makes their day, saw a tv programme once where this nice elderly gent had loads of unopened parcels because when they delivered they actually stood and spoke to him ! must have been a long time ago because now they just leave it on your doorstep and never ring the bell !
I like to think I'm not, I would never lay out money to claim money though. I think email has done a lot to wise us up, with the scams we see daily (I had one yesterday saying that my payment had been delayed in America and contact x urgently - yearh right, what payment?!) - but it's very easy to be off guard from time to time.
I'm the opposite....very cynical So far as tradespeople are concerned I have found some good people on personal recommendations and I treasure them...and they often recommend others for jobs outside their skills/experience I even have a plumber who doesn't rip me off... and he makes the tea when he comes round.
