Identity theft..
If you have any suspicions that, due to the loss of important docs in the mail (french postal system prob at fault here!!), you may have had your identity stolen, what measures can one take to find out whether you have been the victim of new accounts/credit cards being opened in your name? Will a check of Experian or similar do the trick or would one need to do more? Can anyone with similar fears/knowledge or experience of this help with advice/suggestions please.
Docs that went astray include utility bills with name, address and ref no details, bank statements (2 examples only) and certified copies of the identity pages of 2 passports - we retain the originals ....
Thanks ...
John in Brittany.

If all these enquiries results are negative, then you need to do both an Experian check and also an Equifax check.
If accounts show up that you haven't opened, then you need to inform the companies and the Police straiht away. If they show that someone has been trying to obtain credit using your details then inform Experian/ Equiax that this person is not you so they can put a note on your account.
Hope this helps!
