Does anyone remember the advertising campaign for a Big Mac which went on in the 80's. You had to go into the store and say what a Big Mac was made if as quick as you can, then you got a free Big Mac. I've looked through Youtube but can't find it, I don't think my kids believe me.
It went like this
Big Mac
2 all beef patties
special sauce
lettuce, cheese, pickles
and onions
all in a sesame seed bun.
yes i remember it. There was a little jingle tune that went with it. The campaign ran in America while I was there and then when i got home about six months later Macs started opening here and they ran the same campaign. That would have been mid to late 70's
Thanks Sara, but the actual advertising campaign advert was different , It had someone saying the phrase at super speed, we all copied it to get a free Big Mac, until the manager got pee'ed off with us and kicked us out lol.
i think you must be thinking wrong rocky. By what criteria would they give you a free big mac? Just because you said it as quick as you can? or did you have to say it within a certain time? Either way it seems completely bannanas -what's to stop you going there every day, or 5 times every day?
Perhaps you were just a horrible snotty kid who liked peeing the macdonalds staff off?
The fact that woofgang remembers it sort of proves me right really. Yes it had to be done in a certain amount of time which we accomplished, hence the free Big Mac. And yes we did go in everyday, hence why we were eventually kicked out, the campaign didn't last long if I remember right. Remember Mcdonalds wasn't that big over here then so I imagine it helped to give them a bigger profile.
The only other way you get a free meal is if you have to wait something like 5-6 mins AFTER you've ordered it - then it should be free - so my nephew tells me
