Whilst I agree it is very disappointing not to get a response but if we can't get it why should they, plus we probably give people a headache trying on our behalf. So thanks to all who bother I say.
Hi Starbuckone. I dont even want to know if it was right most of the time. I just want to know that they looked back and saw it. I never know why they did away with stars on here. Easy to give and a pleasure to receive!
Grasscarp, what you must bear in mind is the respect those of us who do crosswords have for your brains and skill. You are not unheard nor is your effort wasted.
I'm not a very frequent visitor on this site, so is there an 'etiquette' for how long you should leave people to put answers on before replying?
Sometimes I might ask a question and then go out for the afternoon before checking the answers - is this not how it's done?
A thank you is nice, for sure, but such pats on the back isn't why I contribute; but to either offer advice/help for its own sake, or failing that then at least try to make someone smile.
I thought this was worse then no response at all. Not long after I started using this site I answered a question in the SE big crossword and as often happens two other people had given the same answer all at the same time, no problem, I then went off for a weeks holiday. When I returned I checked my profile and noticed that somebody else had answered the question about an hour later giving the same answer as the three of us who had answered earlier. the poster was gushing in his thanks to the later poster and ignored all the earlier posters. The people concerned still use the site and to this day I've never answered any of their post
Paddywak I go away for weeks at a time - sometimes months - but try to work my interactions with answerbank accordingly - sometimes though it doesn't work out. There will always be those who are bad mannered and it's nice to see it hasn't stopped you from contributing to the site.
I was really annoyed I thought it was insulting to myself and the other people who'd answered and if I'd been at home I'd have probably got myself banned, as it is I just ignore the people involved, after all most users are OK people
Cut your AB teeth and be engrossed
Cut to the quick, don't linger
Cut your Question on a Post
Do not linger on too long. Today is the time and place to be what you want a response to be. If you cannot find truth, you will never see. To be, or not to be, but do say Thank-You for your question.
Your poem is lovely granny grump. My original gripe was not the fact that people dont acknowledge me, it is that they often dont acknowledge anyone. The answers all sit there blowing in the wind and I think has the person who set the question had a look and seen our efforts? Maybe they dont know that you can say thanks in your own thread, but a quick look at the other posts would quickly show that you can. There are lots of very nice people on this site and I wouldnt stop visiting Answerbank. I did flounce off once (cant remember why), but as I not filled in the snags flounce form nobody noticed and I sneaked back in.

Do you know the answer?
Ode to the ones who don't acknowledge answers here
