My hospital bed. So it turned out my infection was pretty bad and I came in on Thursday to have an op yesterday. The buggers wont let me leave until tomorrow. I was lucky and got moved to my own side room yesterday but I can still hear the polish woman in the ward shout "get bloody lost cow". I can't see the cow. My canular (sp) really hurts today so I'm off to hoble round and find a nurse. Hope you are all having sunny days xx

I don't wish to alarm you but if I were moved from the main ward into a side room I'd be worried!
morning milly, hoping you are out soon as planned - you'll be able to tell us hospital stories once you have been "released"!
good morning Milly I hope you get better soon and will be safely tucked up in your own bed. I prefer to be in a room on my own in hospital, a ward full of people at night all moaning, groaning, snoring, ringing for a "mythical" nurse to come and get them a bedpan doesnt exactly inspire me but as I have a dread of doctots &hospitals they only way I will go in one is unconcious.Hope your stay will be a short one.
Get well soon Dee

Thanks boxwood!

Mike I thinks it because they had to put me on a gynae ward and I'm not a gynae patient.
This may seem a silly question. Do they have t'internet in hospitals now?

Stupid phone - I meant Boxtops.

Had a much better night sleep in here last night Dee. Being on the ward the previous night was just like you described, got no sleep at all.

They just took the canular out because of the pain and my hand is double the size. Oddly its more paiful then the hole in my leg. Lol.

By the way I'm looking really foxy in my bed stockings :)

Well according to my phone they don't have Internet so I expect this is costing me a fortune but I dOnt care, there is no tv in here and I'm bored.
buy a newspaper when they bring them round and try a crossword to pass the time or Take A Break their stuff is real easy. How is the food ? dare I ask ?Mr Sa got so fed up with the hospital grub that I went all the way to Selfridges from Goodmayes, Essex to buy him a salt beef sarnie to cheer him up.Have you noticed when you get plonked in a ward theres always one nosey person who knows everybody's business and the mens ward is worse that the ladies.

They haven't bought any papers round since I've been in but I would quite like a little walk anyway so will ask if I'm allowed to go and get one a bit later. The tuna sandwich I had last night was nice but was in nil by mouth before then so haven't tried much of the food yet. My brother lives just up the road and said he would sneak ms in some decent grub though :)
what a bummer milly123 - hope you get well soon - am going to be in the same boat as go in for op on Thursday - ain't it just the pits? Think I may be luckier though as I'm going into a private hospital ( NHS patient ) but at least I get a room and tv etc. Chin up and cause mayhem, they may release you earlier if you do!
Sorry to hear Milly...you might be in a sde room because of the infection in which case you probably ought to stay in it... if the nurses don't mind then it was more likely so they could keep a closer eye on the patient that was in it before you. If they put another cannula in and it feels sore and your hand start to swell tell the nurses straight away as it means the fluid isn't going into a vein any more but leaking into the tissue around it...

I would expect you will go home with regular wound care visits from the district nurse so don't expect to get back to work any time soon if you work that is.
lucky you carmalee you will certainly know the difference and they usually offer a glass of wine with your dinner too ! I used to have private insurance until because of my age I couldnt afford the premiums any more, so far I have not been admitted to a NHS hospital but Mr Sa has been in hospital[NHS] a number of times.
We want you to do an AB (BBC) Panorama Investigation into the condition and brutality in NHS hospitals, milly, and report back here. See if you can drag up some fine mobile phone footage and scandal that rivals the Winterbourne, Bristol, story.

That should keep your brain active and your legs mobile as you shuffle around the place.

Hope you get released soon and look after yourself.....
They moved you into a side room because your language was upsetting the other patients
In my Local Hospital every bed has a TV, telephone, internet, radio in a TV type thing that swings out over the bed, its not free but not too expensive either. I thought it was standard in all Hospitals these days.
A big hello from Answerbank! Hope you're home soon milly!
