mercedes or audi diesel?

got a dilemma.... im moving around 40 miles from my work place. ive a vw golf gti 1.8t which isnt all that fuel efficent but a lovely car all the same....

im looking at either an audi a6 tdi, or a mercedes C class estate, diesel.... what would you all reccomend? got a budget of up to £3k.

You're unlikely to get an Audi A6 diesel with sensible mileage for £3000.
If you can stand the name look at the Skoda Superb 1.9tdi 130bhp which is enormous in the back and much better value for money. All made with VW/ Audi parts too.

Go for the Skoda. Brilliant build, diesel is a dream, VW technology.

Skoda, make sure the rear windsceen heater works as you may need it when you push it....

Audi for me ,front wheel drive, nice in the snow, more than can be said for the Merc, was called out three times last year by my son with his Merc C Class, to be dug out of the snow.
