I remember well when not only the only way to contact someone was from the phone in your house (or indeed the red phone box) but when you lifted the receiver, there was a real person on the other end who knew who you were.
Nope, I don't miss them at all. Live in the present or you will not enjoy what you have. Although it did seem cleaner, we had nothing. Mind you, everyone else had nothing as well, so we didn't notice. If I think too deeply it was the bad old days, not the good old days.
Bad old days starbuckone, I think the 40's and 50's were fine. We were free as children, we could pretend to be nazis and shoot people without being arrested. At night the whole family would huddle by a coal fire and listen to the radio, whilst colouring or reading, much nicer. We ate healthy food and not many sweets. We used our imaginations and didn't have to be amused by the internet. We were put in our places with a clip round the ear from adults and the police if we needed it.

The good old days are not that hard to re-create. Just turn the mod cons off....sorted.

No....We'll start bleating on about when we were young children respected their elders...!

I agree. They have it much harder. Gone are the days when you could shove the kids out the door to play while you got on with the house work.

They are constantly checked up on as well which must affect their imagination when out playing.
people seem to have no patience with children these days as well
Have you got past the lorry yet Mick?
Funny you should say that, craft. I was just thinking Mick is not as articulated as the lorry is.

How about sitting round the coal fire and not daring to go out into the hall because it was soooooooooooooo cold. Inside of bedroom windows frozen in the mornings, chilblains, scarlet fever because there were no antibiotics, getting dressed in front of an electric fire as quickly as possible. not having a telly, hoover, telephone, I could go on. I miss the freedom of the 40s and 50s, but not the labour saving stuff there is now. I used to have to do the family washing in the bath!! Then along came the Rolls Rapide, bliss.
