Photo editing

I'm an Imac user and for photo editing I am currently using Graphic Converter but wondered if it was worth buying Photoshop Elements .. has anyone tried it and do you think that its a good buy?.

I'm a graphic designer and Mac user... and would always aim for Adobe Photoshop as good base package and then by any other Plug-in that you may need. I still use Graphic Converter for opening awkward files that seem corrupted and won't open in anything else. It's saved a job many a time...

Thanks for the help honkytonkman ... I now have a 30 day free trial of photoshop elements and after using it today I am quite impressed. I think I am almost ready to pay out the �70 and buy one .. once again thanks for all the information.
