Well, I'm on my fourth scotch (and I dont drink in the week!), got my 86 year old mother down for the week (taken week off work).Today we I gave her a choice, go the Gilbert Whites house of Jane Austins House. She chose Jane but moaned all the while, then went for lunch which was "expensive and cold" Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

What can I do tomorrow errr today to please her!

Ohhhhh, I will, by the vat!
Open top bus tour - with a bottle of scotch? :p

How about a nice little place for a cup of tea and a nice sit down - with scones of course.

Lore, tried that on Monday (not the scotch) but was soooooooooo boooooring Mum's words, followed by I'm not "old" you know, then my back aches from all this walking!

I need HELP
What do you do?
You take her to lunch at The Bell in Alresford:
http://www.bellalresford.com/
or (possibly both better and cheaper!)
The Cricketers
http://www.cricketers...d.co.uk/home/food.php

Then you take the 1500 steam service on the Watercress line to Alton and back:
http://www.watercressline.co.uk/Home
(or, if you're starting from Alton, you could get to Alresford by taking the steam train - but you might need to book a taxi to get to the pub of your choice from the station)

Did watercress line, Thomas Lord, et al Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
have you got a pub near you where they have a good old fashioned sing a long ?
ask her to sing "the Boars Have Got my Daddy" for you !Perhaps she she doesnt want to go anywhere just sit at home and spend time with you?at least you have made the effort because she will go back and boast to her cronies what a wonderful time she had.
This is why euthanasia is good.
Euthanasia not an option, remember she is the only mum you have, and won't be around for ever. Mine drives me to distraction, but know that whatever happens i'm still her child, and she's still my mother.
I wish I'd still got a mother and father to moan about
Whuy don't you simply ask her what she would most like to do ?
paddy...snap!
My mum and dad are dead and it would be nice to see them again - but my mum drove me around the bend. Shopping trips with her usually ended badly. Having her stay with me would have ended with only one survivor. Nightmare!
Grin & bear it, and be grateful - I bet she found you a nuisance at times - this is her revenge
It's a parents job wolfie, to look after you and love you while you're young, be your friend when your older and to drive you round the bend when they're old
