Help please.....I am trying to lower my Blood Pressure (with the aid of prescribed meds) firstly through better eating habits. Secondly, I know I should excercise on a regular basis -but just can't get motivated for that.....We do actually have equipment to help with that eg.,-power plate, rowing machine, treadmill, cross-trainer. -Maybe I just need a boot up the jacksy! (how do you spell that?)

What do you like doing that involves a little exercise?
Mat - Take up walking .. pick an interesting route.. little and often to begin with & build on it from there.
build more into your normal daily activity...take stairs not lifts, walk if you only need something locally rather than using the car.... gardening....swap an electric mower for a push one... if you haven't done much exercise for ages a little will go a long way...

Thanks guys for all your answers......One thing I sometimes do is take two or more trips upstairs when only one is required! (Annoys the hell out of my wife- who says I'm 'loosening' the stairs)
a good motivation may be 'If I don't take more exercise I'll probably die very early' - shake a leg and stop looking for massive changes (if you have all sorts of exercise equipment and don't use them then they aren't right for you.) What are your interests? Join one of the many clubs that renovate gardens, build stone walls whatever, volunteer to work at a local animal shelter, push a disabled person out in their wheelchair once a week, join a bowling, table tennis, swimming club, anything that gets you moving -I have a lot to do with horses and believe me I take plenty of exercise but I'm interest in that. It will be too late to look for motivation when you are bedridden with a stroke or something - look out for boot in post and apply vigorously to backside.
You could get a dog and take if for walks.

Sorry sandyRoe -but not a dog fan! Carmalee-good answer...wouldn't mind renovating someones garden (after tending my own)....I will google for clubs dealing with that.
I do still work 16hrs p.w. in care services although past retirement age. Our gym equipment is for the family -perhaps if I could motivate the other two- I would join in (although both are working full time) Anyway thank you all again for your help & encouragement!!
