new partner who smokes
36 Answers
I have been seeing my partner for about 8 months. He is lovely, but his smoking drives me mad.
He does it outside, but he wheezes and coughs and it disturbs my sleeping he snores as well, at times.
I do love him but i am worried about his health, as my husband died of a lung related illness 3 years ago.
He has spent a fortune on quit aids, gave up once for two weeks then started again. I dont want to sound like a nag but i am at my witts end.
what would you do in mu situation?

lay off the nagging, it wont help. just ignore his smoking, dont make it an issue, he will give up when he wants to

// you wouldn't believe how quickly my stumpy legs would take me to the nearest shop that sells them! // Lucky to have 'stumpy legs'. It was fright that stopped me smoking, I began to have difficulty walking & was diagnosed as having a blocked Femoral Artery. I was informed that it was caused through smoking & I had to have a wire pushed down the Artery in order to clear it ( with local anesthetic) I had a lot of blood leak under the skin tissues & was black from the waist to just above the knees ( not a pleasant experience at all) I was told that if I continued to smoke it could result in me losing my legs which would have to be amputated.I stopped smoking there & then ( December 1992) & have not smoked since.Do not risk what I went through, give it up NOW. Ron.
whiskeryron, I knew a guy who went through a similar experience and despite that he STILL couldn't give up smoking and had to have both legs amputated at the knee before, eventually, dying of lung cancer.
My Mum knew him too, and even then she still couldn't give up - until she went to the hypnotist. That worked a treat ...
