dog sniffing

Hi All

For quite a bit of time and time again - my little dog seems to sniff at the side of my shed of which I cannot get access to as it is wedged to a fence - then he barks hence I can be thinking is it a dead bird, cat or some strange thing. Last week I happened to look out at my neighbour's new decking and saw some strange thing like a seal (dont live near water) - wasn't a cat cos it had no tail - however it proceeded to go under her decking and I know it can access into my garden which is paved. I have just gone and bleached and washed with washing powder, dettol and disinfectant - particularly done the best throwing some at the side of the shed - is there anything I can buy to get rid of this "creature" or even smell - cos dog can bark vehemently for quite some time at this - sorry to go on at length at this.

if it looked like a seal then perhaps you saw a weasel or stoat...slinky and long like a seal

Sorry started to clean and infect before I knew what it was - sorry to all animal lovers - dog has stopped barking so I am thinking it has moved on - dont forget I did not actually throw the stuff under the decking just around the shed so the dog would stay from the smell.

4 nephews have just lifted the shed and it was a hedgehog - they used leather gloves and released it into nearby park - hope that makes you all happy.

So if you MUST throw the Jeyes fluid and other harmful chemicals, throw them over the dog.

Yes my nephews are very good to me as I am to them - because their mother died in 1994 as their brother died in 1992 and I step in there particularly as their dad has been in hospital from March this year

So...from you dog stopping barking at 12:27 your 4 nephews lifted a shed, located it and released it by 12:33....

That's plausible.

fao of umm - I had contacted my nephews last Saturday re the matter and the dog had been kept in the house. you dont know everything about everybody ummm but sure as hell think you do - cos you dont seem to have nothing to do except work out timings - maybe you had other better things to do like a live apart from being on here all the time

So you contacted your nephews last Saturday and still thought it was acceptable to throw lethal chemicals at a defenceless animal.

What I do with my time has nothing to do with this question...nor is it any of your business.

Connemmara, well done for relocating the wee hedgehog.

Like others on this thread, I too am involved in hedgehog rescue and recuperation. I first became involved when I took a couple that could never be released into the wild and gave them a home in my enclosed garden.

One poor wee thing has no nose (was strimmed off in a gardening accident). She is still with us, three years on. They are lovely, fascinating creatures.
