Hi.I posted a question about paste the wall papers last month and got good results.We have since bought six rolls of this paper to do our breakfast room (I'm rambling on a bit). My worry/question is as follows....We have started stripping the old paper which is coming away quite easily but is leaving a backing paper on the wall. My worry is if I paste the backing paper will it not become soggy like blotting paper and not allow the new paper to adhere to the wall?.Do any of you ABrs think I should scrape the backing paper off or leave it in place?...Thanks to you all.

Hi, yes get all the old paper off then repair any bits that need it. Hairline cracks are ok to leave but not any others as they will show through the paper. After this size the walls as usual so that when you paste the walls it doesn't dry too quickly which will make the paper come away from the wall especially the seams. Remember the finish will only be as good as the preparation. Any lumps left on the walls before papering will probably show through after papering.

sog - you really need to get everything of wall before you start again - will suggest sizing the wall first - a dilute wallpaper paste before you put paper up
