if i have property that someone else claims is there property to the police and i dispute it how will the police handle it

As others have said, we need to know more about the circumstances.

As an example, let's say that two people set up in business, helping people with their gardening. Later the partnership breaks up and there's a dispute about which of the two people owns the ride-on lawnmower which was bough for the business. Under those circumstances, the police would refuse to get involved as the dispute was clearly a civil one (rather than a criminal matter).

The police would only get involved if they believed that a criminal offence might have been committed. If that applies in your situation, please explain the circumstances, so that we can advise you.

If you are talking about land, the ownership of land should appear in the Land Registry
