Water bills for two people
26 Answers
we're out during the day so were talking two showers a day, powerful ones but not powershower btw. washing machine and toilets use recycled water. Bill for a quater £110-£165 does that seem steep I have to get a small reduction because of the recycled water I shouldn't pay all the surface run off fee within sewage. Does this seem high it is metered with south west water thanks

My parents live in Wales and they pay half what I do. Our bill for this year is £900 but that is not metered. I was told that if I went on a meter I would pay even more as there are 4 of us living in the house.
Apparently if there are more bedrooms than people in the house, then it would not be cheaper to be on a water meter, but for two of us, at home all day, our bill is £12 per month, being on one with 3 Valleys Water. Before we had it installed, we were asked to pay £26 per month, and that was 3 years ago, so must be more now.Your bill seems excessive.
I was suspicious we were paying too much in our metered property. I made some enquiries with a friend who worked in the local water co but she said it sounded ok. A month or 2 later I was contacted by the water co who said my water bills were high considering the size of the property. They installed a new meter, they phoned 3 months later for a reading from me and worked out the correct charge. My bills halved and I was repaid the overcharge since moving in.
I believe South West water are about the most expensive supplier but all the same a call to them may get you more info and possibly an investigation.

mine is £13 per month in a house with two of us on a meter - showers every day quite often twice a day - not power shower = dont think we have recycled water= washing machine probably 6 washes per week as we only do weekend - we don't watch what we use particularly but we don't leave tap running whist cleaning teeth but that's about it - Mine is Thames Water and i live in London
