BBC 4 Television Tonight "RUBICON" There is NO END .

RUBICON is an American TV conspiracy thriller ,I have seen this, all 13 Episodes unfortunately the American station did not take another series which spoils this completely.How do the BBC end up buying series that have no end ,
ITV are another company who have also been conned into buying series that have no ending .These are series that are made to build to an end . "Dirty Sexy Money" Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip.
Can you think of any other series that have no ending.

Another American one, Blade - the series. It was so much better than the movies, and the actor that played Blade was also so much better than Wesley Snipes. When they found out that a second series wasn't going to be commissioned, they tacked on another episode to try and tie up all the loose ends, but it still ended on a cliff-hanger.
Another one I liked (again about a vampire) was Moonlight, that was ended after 1 run .The problem is it's all about the ratings - so that even excellent shows get cast by the wayside for want of a better time slot - they're put on opposite a soap or an established show or an 'important' sport show - and that's it. It's a shame that they can't accurately count how many people record shows and take that into consideration too.

Surely it would be quicker to list shows that DID conclude properly? Most US series get cancelled before the team behind them have a chance to tie them up.

Flash Forward. A sort of ending, but it had all been geared to go into another series and was cancelled. Oh and that thing about the sea creatures and it ended with mass flooding and people being stranded up a church spire.

Yes i can, my favourite of all US Drama's "Deadwood" ! This brilliant show didnt end either, due to complicated contracts and money issues etc. There have been rumours of a movie or another 6 episodes to tie up all of the loose ends but this is unlikely to happen now. Gutted.

they probably don't get "conned" into buying them. If they have already been screened in America and not renewed for a second series then they are probably very cheap for our tv stations to buy and show...
it drives me mad too though. Invasion and Threshold were two I got into which were both cancelled..

I really enjoyed that and the recently-shown 'The Event' - which has also been cancelled. Oh and 'Flashforward'.
If the US networks didn't insist on making series that are 13-22 episodes long, it wouldn't be necessary for them to be padded out by so much extraneous material and viewers wouldn't get bored and switch off. The series of 'Lost' that was cut short because of the writers' strike was a vast improvement.
I don't know how US viewers can even follow the plots with the number of interruptions they get for commercial breaks.

BIGLIT266 great reply ,so true I see that here in the UK the ad breaks have been changed from 4 to 5 of course that does not include Product Placement .
US TV is as far as I understand divided into age groups,if the chosen age group does not watch a certain series it gets cancelled they do not consider moving it ,I watch mostly material from America without the breaks and I find it by the most part entertaining and informative.
