Are there any good on line chess sites?

I was just wondering are there any websites were two players can compete against each other. I would google it but find that it takes ages to find a good site there, always having to look through loads of sites before finding a good one.

Also is there any way for me to challenge someone on Answerbank, for example, to an online game of chess?

I can understand what your saying. I've got a personal rule to only make one move per day per game. I'm currently playing about 20 games which are a mixture of league, team games and tournament.
It's can be very easy to accept too many challenges and get overwhelmed.
It's unlikely we'll meet there Alice, but I'm usually in room 1 or 2 around midnight most days.

registered to gameknot. Wonderful nic, prawnking :)

Once I know my internet is going to be continuous for a long time, I'll start playing (or get Mt alba to do it!)

Excellent, I'll check out those and perhaps register. Be cool to perhaps challenge some of you guys.
