MM and KM Links June 2011 Week [3]
6 Answers
It is now 5 days since Crofter revealed that his circumstances had drastically changed and that as a result he would no longer be able to manage the MM Links game.
It seems much longer as I have have been deliberating over whether I can commit enough time to take the game forward beyond the end of this month. I still haven't made up my mind but will have to do so before next weekend as that is when a new setter must be chosen for July if it continues. There still seems to be a lot of support from players and more direct help has already been offered so a future may be possible.
This post is not about the past, or the future. It is about the NOW. Over the last few days, Cliffyg has been been getting his team of links together for this weekend's match. Hopefully he hasn't let anything slip to Jess (If Jess tells the postman, it will be all over the village in no time!). The covers come off for the MM Game at 8:45 tomorrow morning with the first ball being bowled at 9:00. Be prompt to have a chance of extras (bonus points).
As usual, I ask that you should also look out for the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at 7am. No rush required there, the timing of your posting is deemed to be irrelevant ~ only the number of hits you are able to register. The regular organiser of KM Links is “seekeerz”, the “Wizard-ess of Oz".
Both games remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards to trace progress through each monthly contest.

Crofter must have given up a huge amount of time every week in order to give the support he did, The thought of finding the time on a regular basis must be quite daunting, and no-one would blame you if you felt you couldn't do it. But.....I would miss MM; it's become a tradition for Saturday mornings, and I've only been playing for a couple of years. If you can find a way to continue, it would be great. If there's any way I can help, I'd be glad to try. Keeping a tally of the scores, perhaps?
Thanks Tearinghear. Your offer is appreciated but splitting the task is not the solution. It is an all-or-nothing problem.
If I am at home, then there is no problem - I can cope. The problem arises when I am away for a weekend or longer. I am already booked to be away for two weekends and a full fortnight between now and October. At a pinch I could perhaps cope with a pay-as-you-go mobile dongle for my laptop. What I really need is a stand-in who can do the lot when I can't. Things are looking good though as I have received such an offer of help (but I don't think she fully appreciates what is involved).
