Cataract Removal
15 Answers
I will be having a cataract removed in the next few weeks and am not looking forward to it !
How soon after the procedure will I be able to drive ?
Will my physical activities ( brisk walking etc) be restricted for any length of time ?
Any words of encouragement will be most welcome.
Cheers.

York 310..is our Opththalmic expert, but here is my inexpert answer.
This is a surgical procedure and with the insert of the new lens to replace the cataract one cannot guarantee perfection, but after saying that, 95% of operations (more or less) some perhaps with the aid of spectacles, will give you 20/20 post operative vision.

cont. but when the fault is purely with the lens I would have thought that would have cured it . In Russia for instance people with short sight are largely cured with laser surgery cuts a slit across the lens. So a replacement lens which I believe is what happens in cataract removable should do the same. After the age of 40 glasses are needed because of muscle weakness ,which is another matter, thats why I stressed faults related to the lens itself.
Sqad // .I feel that i have answered your question, but if not, then York310 will fill in the details. // I can't see where you have answered my question "why doesn't the new lens give you 20/20 vision where there are no other reasons for the poor sight ? "
In fact I now read that Myopia where only the lens is the fault can be cured with these new plastic lens , but I would like to see what York310 thinks about it.
