FIXING HOSE PIPE TO TAP
17 Answers
I have lever style taps and my hose pipe no longer fits onto these taps.Does anyone know of a fitting that I can attach to these taps so I can use the hose. I am having to use watering can at the moment and is taking ages to do. Does ant one else have this problem with these style of taps??

OK, does the top of the tap have a plain metal disc with a coloured ring round it? Something similar to the tap in the link I posted earlier. You can zoom in on the image and pan around to get a good view of it.
If it does that disc should just prise off to reveal a screw which holds the lever on the tap.

Thanks for your replies. An outside tap is what I would really like Chuck, but don't know anyone who could do it for me. would be easy to do as the wall I would want it on backs on to my downstairs loo. Deggers I have one of those fittings but doesn't fit on my tap. The taps I have are the lever type, where if you wanted to you can push on with your arm. Boxtops, I looked in B&Q couldn't find anything different.Looks like I will have to carry on with the watering can. Ho Hum !!!
Scotman they are like the taps I have, and no hose fitting will connect on to these taps. The fitting that Deggers316 suggested is too big to fit on the tap because of the lever.I do have one of those, and the only way to get it on is to have the tap turned on(so the lever is out of the way) but then of course you get soaking wet coz the water squirts everywhere!!!! There must be a solution to this somewhere, I can't be the only person with these taps.
stokemaveric, I have just looked on the screw fix website, but couldn't see anything suitable. However, there is a screw fix local to me, so I think I will go there tomorrow and ask if they have anything or can suggest something. Scotman, no, nothing visible, perhaps it would be easier to just change my taps!!!!

Scotman, I think I know where you are coming from. I have done as you suggested and can only assume that you will tell me to now position the lever at a different angle so I can attach the hose connector and then be able to turn the tap on. If this is right, then you are very clever, cos it works. Yeah...!!!
Scotman, fluke or not, it works. I have just watered my plants, makes my life so much easier, no more watering cans to fill and lug about. I had to make a minor adjustment first as the water from tap was spraying out, so I put a tap washer into the connector and hey presto, no leaks. We got there in the end, thanks guys.
