My seven year old son is desperate to see some big spiders (the bigger the better). Does anyone know of anywhere that has a large collection of spiders and other creepy crawlies? Thanks.

Sorry Tambo - so rude of me, the boy was very impressed with the spider thing. Thank you.
Love the Butterfly Farm in Stratford (won't go in the spider bit though!) and yes is brilliant value!
Well how fabulous. I haven't been there myself but I saw it online and am pleased it fitted the bill. Were the spiders really, really big?!

Hi Sophie - we went specifically for the spiders! The boy was well impressed.
Gawd that's the third time I've stupidly opened that link on this site. It genuinely horrifies me.
Urrgh; I would have had to go through with blinkers on if I went in at all! Prudie; I won't click on any links in threads like this; same as on in Animals and Nature that say "Found this insect in my garden..." with link to picture!

Hi Maidup - there were about five tarantulas and one of them was a 'bird eating' one, currently the boys favourite one. One of the best bits was the quails - they have them walking around to eat the spiders (apparently) and one of them had a baby which was smaller than a butterfly and wouldn't go away and we couldn't walk off in case someone stood on it (it actually looked like one of those pretend Easter chicks you get to decorate Easter bonnets - it was tiny).
A bird eating tarantula! How impressive.
