I think if you offered your own opinions to the story, or something for people to react against you may have received more responses - just leaving the link means users will read the link, but probably wont engage in conversation (after all, it's like you've stuck a leaflet in their hand - compared to telling them a story)

Just my tuppence.

I think you are partly right Piggynose, people love to get involved in a bit of drama, which comes more often with bad news.

Although I do agree with Ed. I very rarely click on links, because I'm so lazy. I prefer to just read what the OP has to say and then read the link if I have to.
