I know there are DVD's of the anniversary concerts of Les Mis, which are more like a showcase of the songs. Is there a DVD out with an actual recording of the show itself?

No i don't think so, ive seen it twice, and never seen a recording, its perhaps because its still on in the west end and plays right across the world. The closest you will get it the anniversary concert

There is an audio CD of the original London cast but not a DVD. That's unlikely to come out until the show closes.

and that would be unthinkable, its still packing people in London.
Greatest show i have ever seen, lucky enough to see with original cast Colm Wilkinson, michael ball.

I thought they were making a film of the musical too

there seems to be some confusion over this, everything i have looked at seems to contradict itself. Cameron Macintosh production but maybe with Hugh Jackman, or Alfie Boe, and possibly Russell Crowe as Javet but its been in the pipeline for a long while. There have been films made before but i am not sure this one is definitely off the ground.

brilliant musical but you can only get a cd or dvd of the 10th and 25th anniversary concerts.

By far the best experience is to see it in the flesh, very moving yet uplifting! we go and see it every year....I know, Iknow, but it's great.

as said, i can't find any further info on when the film will be made, or if at all, lots of conjecture. Unless its been made but no one can get a preview,
see the show, its worth every penny. I wouldn't see it again, only because i have Colm Wilkinson the original Jean Valjean firmly etched in my brain.
You can see him on the 25th anniversary dvd, he is the one with biggest voice, he's still got it i can tell you, i cried when i saw that show, a rare thing to do at a musical, and i wasn't alone.

Thanks for that, yes I think it would make sense not to release the actual show. I would love to see it live and to have seen the original line up would have been amazing!
