As per my previous posts you may know that I (plus mum and mum in law) are off to Malta for a short holiday.

Now I have to admit that one of the 'cheats' I do in life is I buy some holiday pressies before I go (DKNY perfume from Asda re my New York holiday, jewellry and surf momentos off ebay when I went to Hawaii, venitian glass re Venice etc etc)

What, if anything, is Malta reknowned for? Just want to get a head start and get pressies for those who are looking after the house, the animals plus work colleagues etc.

ps - I have alrady have Maltesers on my list :-)
Malt whisky?
not sure, i didn't bring anything back, never do, not even duty free, just enough to get us home. What about looking at the Malta tourist board site, it just might give you a clue, in the sense of whats on offer. Other than that the usual suspect, stuff you have already bought before, or similar
silver filigree jewellery and leatherwork
A Maltese Star pendant.
but can you buy those things here, it has to have some authenticity about it surely.
I had one given to me by my MIL. He could have had mine if I could find it.

EM10. I am more than appy to buy on the internet which would mean they are 'authentic'.

So far I have a 'Malta' apron and am on the look out for a maltese cook book (the one on Amazon is £116 !!!)..

The search begins...................

i have on the odd occasion bought a souvenir back from wherever, not in many years, only to discover it was made in some place like taiwan, china. No one would splash out £116 for a cookbook, not even Jamie Oliver, well would hope not, wonder where that go that figure from, is it embossed with gold... im sure you will find something suitable, I did look at the tourist site, and Mdina Glassware crops up, not sure any help, good luck

Chucked 'Malta' and 'maltese' into ebay and loads of glassware came up, so yup - thanks Em. Just need to find something now for teenage girls (they are looking after my rabbits) :-)

Maltese lace (it`s famour for it), filigree silver and Mdina glass.
*famous*
Sorry but I really don't understand why you bother. Either buy the stuff whilst you are there, or don't bother at all. If you can't be bothered carrying the stuff back then don't pretend that the stuff you've bought as presents is from where ever you've been. Just get them a bottle of wine/box of biccies or something.
