at work we use the banked hours system ie when there is no work they send us home and we have to pay the hours back either by a few hours per week of take it off us when we work overtime, now i was to get made redundant would these banked hours be squashed as the company has broke the contract and therefore i dont have the oppotunity to pay these back, thanks
You might find that you get paid less because you have already taken the leave? I really don't know, this should all be discussed in the terms of your redundancy.
They'd probably give you a notice period and get the hours down during that time; but lets hope redundancy doesn't happen to you and if it does, they just write the hours off.
I've got the opposite problem. When I do overtime, it's unpaid, and I 'bank' the hours. However, it's often difficult to 'redeem' the banked hours, because we are so busy, people resign etc.
I might be leaving for another job soon, and I think I'm going to lose the 'banked' hours.
