Just looking at the wording for the conditions of elgibility for the provision of house insurance from a number of companies - the following , appears to be standard
'' you anybody living with you or anyone that will be living with you has never had an insurance application declined , renewal refused , cover terminated or special conditions imposed by an insurer ''
It's the '' never had an insurance application declined '' that's unclear to me .
1. Does it mean any type of insurance
2. What about this scenario - you phone up an insurance company for a quote - you go through the questions - they then tell you that they cant provide cover for your details - because , for example of the close proxmity of trees .
Does this now mean that you - have had an application for insurance declined - and so other insurers wont provide cover , because you cant meet the criteria of '' never had an insurance application declined '' ?

So if you want to get your house covered and by sheer bad luck happen to approach a company who cant provide cover because of close proximity with trees / watercourse for example - what do you do ?

No, it doesn't mean what you imply. It merely means you have to disclose any previous declining of insurance - not that they won't automatically cover you if you do make such a disclosure.
Insurance is all about assessing risk - the risk you you might make a claim. The higher the company assesses the risk, the higher the premium quoted. Companies want to know if one of their competititors have decided to decline a proposal before taking you on as a risk.
