I'm trying to find out details of parents and siblings for a George Albert Grisdale.
1911 census George is shown as being born 1869 in Manchester and is a Fish Hawker living in Scarborough, also at the address is his unmarried brother James, born 1878 in Manchester and also a Fish Hawker
I cannot find George's birth or him anywhere on previous censuses.
I can find a James Grisdale living in York in 1901 and he is a Fish Hawker, but his parents are shown as John W Welsh born 1845 York and Sarah born 1849 Manchester..................help!!

I've found George Albert's birth now registered 1867 in Manchester as Gresdale, but I still can't find him in any censuses..............
I think he was baptised at bolton in 1867 to John and eleanor grisdale
mmmm looks right but no James in 1881, they lived bolton then accrington.
I think I may have found an interesting military record for a george grisdale who was discharged from the army in 1901, went to live at 111 Philips Park Rd Beswick, Mamchester

ooh I'll have a look at that dotty.........
i think george and james had an older brother thomas gresdale registered in 1864, it is interesting that all 3 births were registered under that spelling yet it seems they have vanished from the rest of the records. I've tried grizdale and griesdale and greisdale and grisdale, grysdale and grisdall and nowt.
of and gresdale does show up mainly up North, cumberland and westmoreland,

I came across the ‘Answer Bank’ site by accident and I responded to your posting in order to help you find info you are seeking. I gave you my name and address so that you could communicate with me by email but, for reasons that I do not understand, you have not done this. I do not wish to communicate with someone who wants to remain anonymous although I respect your right to remain anonymous.

Please let me know, via email, who you are and why you are interested in my Grandfather.

If you decide not to email me then communication will cease but I would still wish you well and hope that you find what you are looking for.

Kind regards,
