Female songstress...............

Trying to remember the name of a female songstress, possibly around 1970s or 1980s, in the same vein as Elaine Paige. For the life of me, I cannot remember her name, but seem to recall she lived in the shadow of Elaine Paige. Very vague question I know, but if anybody can offer a suggestion I would be grateful.
