sad news

Some of you may remember my posting about the new foal on 7th May

The foal was actually quite badly hurt by the other 2 horses and almost lost her eye, she's been very viciously bitten and kicked. She rallied well and was doing fine in the field just round the corner from us - just here and her Mum, but sorry to say when the owner went to see them this morning the little foal was dead. The vet seems to think it may have been a strangulated gut which can happen when the foal start to come off Mums milk. We're all really sad.

I can't stop thinking about here - I can't imagine what her owners are feeling. I'm SO glad I took her photo. Do you think the owner would like a copy of the photos or do you think it would be too upsetting? Obviously I'd wait a while.

If I were them I'd love a photo. As you say, wait awhile and then offer it. She looks so lovely, it's heartbreaking.

poor little thing to go through all that in a short life. How is the mum ?to be there with a dead foal must have been heartbraking to see.

Such a shame, after recovering from the attack to die in that way. She was lovely x

Mum appears to be OK but who knows the sadness she's probably feeling? I'll pop along to see her later and take her a carrot.
