Hello. I was given a rather ugly wristwatch the other day (about the size of a small alarm clock and labeled "Uboat watch) japanese innards and assembled in Italy. The problem is that a couple of the pointers have come adrift and need to be repositioned. I have unscrewed the backplate and checked the interior for ways to remove the winder stem so that I can remove the watch from it's casing and get to the face of the problem (excuse the pun). So far I have not seen any marks or buttons to release the stem so I'm a little perplexed and I'm hoping that some of you guys could throw a little light on the matter before I rip it to pieces (joke). I wasn't aware that U-Boat made digitals and in which case what are the pointers you're referring to. If it is a mechanical watch or an analogue quartz as I suspect then dismantling isn't a job for someone without experience (unless you don't mind trashing it), this is quite a good page for generic instructions on how to dismantle a watch http://tinyurl.com/3jsvrm

Fitzer.Many thanks for your help.That page is very informative.The pointers in question are the minute hand and a very small pointer for checking lap speeds or something. I will be having a go at releasing the stem shortly and hope it all works out ok.Thanks again.
