It's incredible isn't it? I'm lost for words.
And unfortunately ratter, you are right.
lets hope there won't be an internal cover up and those resposible will be held to account. Dreadful, dreadful thing to have happened and someone's head must roll - it won't bring those poor dogs back but it may help others - cannot see anyone in their right mind putting a dog in a vehicle in this heat unless it was absolutely necessary - but to do so and then leave them - unforgiveable.

Carmalee- your absolutely right with everything you say.
I hope those responsible lose their job and may they be haunted by this mistake for the rest of their life.
Not just police, and i have seen parents do that with children, leave them while they pop to the shops, even pub, irresponsible beyond words.
... and they swear they care for their animals ...
they can't even make sure the people who are caring for the animals are doing their jobs correctly.
Another court case with the police in the dock.

Good god em10. Beyond irresponsible.
Oh! unforgivable!..........they should and surely do, know better!........poor dogs!...........they should be made to be accountable for this!.............................so very cruel!.....................
That policeman shouldn't have left even one dog in his car, much less more. I agree with carmalee. Ironic, in a sad way, as police are supposed to put people that do that behind bars; Now there is a sudden change in the system. What he did is like sticking a kitten in a washing machine. If you ask me, he should have left them food and at least 5 gallons worth of water. I am absolutely disgusted. I had a Saint Bernard, sweet as could be. Sadly, he had to be put down. At least he, like those killed dogs, are now fetching tennis balls in a better place.
As this is now the second tragedy in a couple of years does it not suggest that the vehicles these police dogs are transported in is unsuitable for the job? What about fitting them with air conditioning, at least if the policeman "forgets" the dogs have a good chance of survival.
This policeman did the same thing in 2004 and the dog, a spaniel died. He was then promoted (yes, promoted) and now the moron has done it again. I am sure he will plead all sorts of excuses to try and get off (apparently he tried to slit his wrists when he heard), but all my sympathies are with those two poor dogs and the hell they went through before they died. Throw the book at him RSPCA I say.
