Which public sector workers are striking on Thursday?
16 Answers
I know teachers and lecturers are. I've been told that members of the PCS will too - people I know who work for HMRC are on strike.
Will this include Job Centre staff? I rang and asked them, but they didn't have a clue.
TIA

This web page refers to PCS picket lines at the Poole and Bournemouth Jobcentres, so SOME Jobcentre Plus staff would seem to be involved:

if we have any more riots on the streets of London, then will consider moving, we have demonstrations here most weeks, if not students, its some faction with a grievance, mostly nothing to do with Britain, brings the whole bloody city to a halt, bad for business, bad for the city, and bad for anyone trying to get around, half the public transport shuts at weekend for upgrades and engineering works, buses get snagged in endless traffic jams because of roadworks, the police usually cordon off areas when a demo is on, why can't they do this in Manchester, Birmingham, why does it always have to be here.

not a few, but many, and between the demos, the endless road works, cross rail is a major project, as is London Bridge, the area is one big building site, The Shard tower going up, upgrading of the underground, which goes on at weekends, many tube lines are out of action because of it, TFL say the work can't be done overnight, it doesn't stop. These projects are not short term. More marches and riots won't help, and moving isn't an option, i wish it were.
Next year the Olympics, and you can bet your bottom dollar our transport system won't cope, it already creaks at the seams, and the millions who use it now, add on many millions more for the Olympics.
