My insurer has told me the car is not worth repairing and made me an offer. It seems a fair offer but as I am blameless for the accident is it reasonable for me not to expect my excess be deducted from the settlement?
Thanks
Thanks for all the replies but for R1Geezer you are supposed to post helpful answers not questions. In your case the answer was about as much use as a primark carrier bag in the rain ! lol
That's is a genuaine query. If you are claiming off somone else insurance then the issue of your excess does not arise. I never even involve my insurer on a no fault claim. It wasn't intended as a barb more a statement of curiosity.
Last year this guy was so busy buying and selling shares on his Blackberry he didn't notice that the lights had changed and I had stopped. Bang! Two grand worth of damage to my car. I claimed off my policy and paid the excess, his insurers reimbursed my insurers and sent me a cheque for my excess after a couple of sternly worded letters mentioning legal action.
