This might sound stupid but i am 50 and my son is 22 and my daughter is 21 and yet i still think of them as children. I treat them as equals (ie adults) but i don't really mean it. They are just my babes. is this normal

nope.
Yes.
maybe.
They are adults obviously. And should be treated as such.
My daughters are also adults, but they will always be my babies :)
totally, my mum treats me like a 5 year old at times, i don't like it much but there you are, thats mums for you
Perfectly
Yes absolutely normal, they will always be our babies.
When talking about me and my fiancé or my sister and sil or brother my mum has general names. My brother is just andy, my sister and sil are the girls and me and my fiancé are the kids.. We get the kids as I am the youngest, although I am 24, but my fiancé gets a bit confused as he is 40 and has 2 kids of his own! I will always be my mums baby :-)
lol antlad i so think it is normal, if not then i am suffering with the same abnormality
My daughter is always saying" mum! I am 40 now, I'm a big girl". So I guess my children will always be my 'kids'.
