Green Belt restrictions to be relaxed
Has this anything to do with the soaring population growth, now approaching 63 million and on course to reach 70 million, due to almost unlimited immigration and higher birth rate mostly from the new settlers?

3000 homes is just the tip of the iceberg for York. Now increased to 16,000 in the next 20 years.

Complete and utter rubbish. Nothing to do with immigrants , just the usual uneducated and thinly veiled racist rubbish you can read daily in the news section.
"An acute shortage of affordable homes has led to plans for a massive house-building programme.
Four main areas around London were identified by the government in 2003 as "Areas of Priority" for the building of around 200,000 new houses.
In 2007, Gordon Brown said three million new homes would be built by 2020. And the communities minister said houses would take "priority" over environmental concerns.
A key factor has been a sharp rise in the number of people living alone. The number of single person households is expected to increase from about 22 million in 2007 to around 26 million by 2026."
I hope this has educated rov1100 and in future he might refrain from insulting other memebrs , who are more thnan likely to be more intelligent than him/her.

There are hundreds of thousands of empty properties in London, its time the borough councils did something about that. Our borough is selling off decent council stock, nothing to do with right to buy, it also has a policy, this was information from a friend who works for the council, that immigrant families get priority on council housing, as generally they have larger families, and that policy has been in place for years, not just for the recently arrived. The usual bleat from the council has been no money in the pot to do up these empty properties, load of ***, you could let those properties out, give the people a small grant for decoration, maintenance and after that charge them a decent, fair rent. Our council gives the green light to property developers, who then build homes that are only for the very wealthy.
There is much you could do to house people in London, but they won't do it by using available stock. As to building on green belt land, nothing new, been going on for years. Britain cannot sustain more people, because its not just housing they will need but hospitals, schools, social care, and having seen the results of mass immigration in London, this situation is only going to get worse.
