MM Links Solutions July 2011 [Week 1]
6 Answers
Week 1 of the Canuck Links Game has now drawn to a close. Setter this month is The Ice Queen (aka Ont-Ice) and for her first set of links, she teased everyone with:
Royal FAMILY
Day DREAM / DREAMER / DREAMING
Carpet BAGGER(S) / BAGGING
French WINDOW(S)
All 4 link words had ample potential partners so unsurprisingly there was no glut of points. Nevertheless, there were multiple scorers amongst the few who were in tune with The Ice Queen.
But who were they? You will have to read on below to find out.

Paulineward, Lysander and Centrino jumped on the same bandwagon within two minutes (2 points each). JIM(Jools) and X-ray later picked up a single on this link.
The game was only two minutes old when it suddenly dawned on Beejay1124 through his FRENCH WINDOWS that 2 points were there for the taking. Regward obvously had windows on his mind as well and was just within the window of opportunity to qualify for 2 points. A later single point was also collected by X-ray.
The ROYAL FAMILY seem to be out of favour with most players, but not with Regward whose support earned him two points, which together with the two earned above, make 4 in total. Later Royalist suport earned X-ray a single point.
Monkees fan Lysander was a DAYDREAM believer for 2 points, which gives him a well earned total of 4 points. Cliffyg was in time for 2 points, whilst Teacher1 was later and only qualified for 1 point.
At this stage, I should point out what astute readers will already have picked up on. The name of X-Ray has cropped up three times in the above report making him the only triple hitter in the entire game. Can he see right through The Ice Queen?

=====================
4 points : lysander & regward
3 points : x-ray
2 points : grannydi, beejay1124, paulineward, centrino & cliffyg
1 points : JimJools (Mr) & teacher1
A reminder for Euphemia (and all players) - In this game all answers are from 4 to 8 letters long so you are just wasting a chance if you stray outside this range.
Week 2 will be launched as usual in Q&P at 8:45 / 9:00am next Saturday. New players always welcome. The game remains open all weeked but bonus points are mostly claimed by early players.
See you all then.

My thanks to Gen2 for his help in showing me how to formulate my very first set of links and for tabulating the scoring.
Also thanks to all who took part and congratulations to those who scored points.
If I don't melt between now and then, I look forward to 'seeing' you all again next week.
The Ice Queen.
PS. For Lysander. I note the transatlantic setter didn't bother you one bit. You're sitting up there waving the flag with Reg Ward.

Have just caught up with my computer correspondence.
Surprised and delighted to have been selected as "Hot shot of the week". The first time ever in over 3 years...pity I wasn't an early bird
Thanks gen2 and especially Ont-ice....obviously I have some thought connection with Canada.
Look forward to next weeks contest
