What is she expecting a summons for?

If it is for a "summary" offence, (that is an offence that can only be dealt with at a magistrates' court) whoever is prosecuting has six months from the date of the alleged offence to begin proceedings. Very often (particularly with motoring offences) a summons is not issued until this time limit has almost expired.

Hello new judge,
No its for a section 5, was told almost 6 weeks ago it was going to court but heard absolutely nothing... wondering how long it took to receive, some people have it is very unusual to take so long.
thankyou.
Section 5 POA is a summary offence. It is most usually dealt with by way of a fixed penalty, but if your friend is being prosecuted the CPS has six months from the date of the alleged offence to put information before the Magsitrates.
