.....quite a thorough one too. When they tested my blood pressure with that arm band thingy, the nurse asked if I was on medication for low blood pressure, and I said I wasn't, which she said was very surprising because my heartbeat is only 45 bpm; quite low. I just joked and said it was because I had a very active sex life but she said I had to go for an ECG. That showed the same at 45 bpm. She then said she'd have to go and speak with someone. When she came back she said it was ok. I found it quite baffling. I can't be the only person with a slow heartbeat. Don't athletes have slow heartbeats? Marathon runners particularly? It was as though she didn't believe I wasn't taking any medication. Anyway, I was told that I am fit, young and healthy, which made me laugh out loud, bearing in mind my age. It must have been living in all that passive smoke as a baby just after the war that did me the world of good.

i suppose she just had to make sure with a doc. its called bradycardia and would appear to be fine in a resting state. i would guess that it goes up a bit when you are more active.
It's the same with bloodpressure, some people have a naturally low blood pressure I think but when nurses come across it they can become concered and need to seek further advice or refer to patient notes.

Glad you are fit and well though, stick to the jogging and weight training it is obviously doing you a power of good! : ))
Just wait a minute.....the story should not end there.............was that an exercise ECG? i.e ECG taken whilst you were exercising ?

45bpm which could not be raised by exercise is low.....not suggesting any cardiovascular problem, but ask your GP if you can have some thyroid blood tests to exclude under active thyroid.

If they came back normal........then i would be reassured......but not before.
