This is an example of why the benefit bill is so high. Government depts pay benefits automatically and there is little follow up to see if the recipient still qualifies. In the days when someone had to physically collect benefits fraud and cases like this were far less common. Disability, sickness, housing, rent support, unemployment allowances etc once started are paid out automatically with little follow up. Every week we hear of benefit fraud but that is only the tip of the iceberg. Q
modeller this was for an old woman >> An elderly Australian woman lay dead in her home for eight years before her body was discovered.<<
people who are on benefits like sickness, Disability and housing etc are different please forget what you read in the express and mail
people who are on benefit have forms to fill in and medicals to attend they don't just go once and then get payments for the rest of their lives

Oh really ? Then how come I know someone personally who was on disability
benefit ( a bad back ) for 20 years and never had a medical. He had an allotment, played tennis and was active until he 'retired' last year and now draws his OAP pension . His comment last year was " No one can call me a scrounger ,now I'm 65.
How come that in the last 12 months 50% of those called up to have a medical withdrew their claim ? No doubt they all had miracle cures .
How come that several generations of the same families are never able to find work ? So much for your trust in the filling in of forms.

i bet you £1 to a penny you could not claim for a bad back and not have to have a medical these days
notice how i say these days
i know a few who are or were on the sick and all of them have to go for a medical to get any kind of benefit.
some in the old days may have got away with it , but no longer
20 years is a long time maybe he forgot his first medical, what used to happen was a person would get sent for a medical and depending on the doctor who examined him/her would then say you have no need to come back for X number of years.
this could be 1,2,3 4, 5 6, then that person is re looked at. if the person is under the hospital that can change things
as for >> 50% of those called up to have a medical withdrew their claim ? No doubt they all had miracle cures <<
i don't believe those figures, i personally know a female who should have gone last month, she never went not because of any miracle cure but because she is not well

(that was posted before i finished, my computer is playing up )
she never went and has now been kicked off. i have some of her personal letters saved in my computer for her.
i have posted on this subject before and i not going to repeat my private or any of her private info on here
someone on benefit getting a large sum of money makes a good story for the daily papers
they don't seem to print as many about people who have worked all their lives then can claim FA
hope you keep good health because if you ever need to claim you are in for a shock

Dr F //notice how i say these days // Whatever that means .
-I notice you found it necessary to qualify your answer.
// i don't believe those figures // Why not ? They were not disputed last year by the government or the opposition.
Oh and by the way I was disabled for years ( spinal damage ) and I didn't claim a penny because I wanted to work.

to put it simply it means that when you put a claim in they don't believe you and have you in for a medical
>> i don't believe those figures // Why not ? They were not disputed last year by the government or the opposition. <<
they would not want to disputed them as it gives them good publicy to attack the people on the sick.
>> Oh and by the way I was disabled for years ( spinal damage ) and I didn't claim a penny because I wanted to work. <<
that is good of you but if someone is sick or disabled and needs help do you not think they should get help
