If the breeder is any good, they'll be asking all the questions.

Be prepared for them to refuse you.

I know you say that you don't want a rescue dog but have a quick look at this link - this rescue centre has lots of ex breeding dogs, you might find a breed you fancy here - worth a look don't you think?

Not that I don't like Poodles, but if your mind is still open look at Miniature Schnauzers. they don't shed hair and are great little dogs.
