Sorry to diverse slightly, was just wondering as the NOTW is being closed with the potential loss of 200 journalists sacraficed maybe to save Rebbekah Brookes. I was wondering why this was so. Could she have something over Murdoch.. Conspiracy theories abound!!!!

I doubt that every story Andy Coulson has ever told has been a lie. I suspect the Sheridan trials ended fairly. But we'll see.

It is already being bandied around that “The Sun on Sunday” will begin publication the week after next, so I don’t think we need worry too much about the displaced NoTW reptiles.

As far as Rebbekah Brookes goes, she either knew of the behaviour of her staff (in which case she was complicit) or she did not (in which case she was inept). Either way she should do the decent thing. But she will not.

It will be very interesting to see if there are any repercussions surrounding the Tommy Sheridan affair. The outcome may have been very different if what we know now about the NoTW was known before Sheridan’s trial.

Not all the journalists even there are reptiles; most will have had nothing at all to do with hacking. It is infuriating that the innocent lose their jobs; the guiltiest probably won't. But Brooks will go too if staying on means the Sky deal won't go through; that's the Murdochs' number one priority.
