Humans versus Laptops
Sitting in a hot office in Newbury. Question! Does a human give off more or less heat than an average laptop? To reduce heat would it be better to force everybody else to go and stand in the carpark or turn off all their pcs?

A laptop produces virtually all the heat from the CPU so while the hottest parts are much warmer than a human, it lags well behind in total emission.
In a closed environment like an office, 6 humans will raise the temperature more that 6 laptops, both working at average speed.

I'll support your suggestion to switch off an d go outside, regardless of the science behind it.
I like 10 miles from the coast and I forget just how hot it can get in the middle of the country. I drove from the east to the west coast recently and by the time I reached the middle, I would have found a car park an attractive option too!
Ideally ther'd be a tree in said car park under which you can sit and use your laptop. (Or dream of being beside the seaside)
