making icons etc smaller

HELP ALL OF A SUDDEN MY LAPTOP ICONS, GAMES, INTERNET, ABSOLUTLEY EVERYTHING HAS MAGNIFIED AND MAKING EVERYTHING TOO LARGE. HOW CAN I GET IT BACK TO NORMAL SIZE. ITS DRIVING ME MAD!!

Right-click on your desktop. Click 'Properties' and then the 'Settings' tab. Move the screen resolution slider to the right (probably as far as it will go). Click 'Apply' and 'OK'. (Your screen will go blank for a few moments. Don't panic. It's normal!).
If the slider won't move to the right (possibly because it's greyed out), it means that your laptop has 'lost' the video driver. If so, you might need to download it and install it again. (We'll need to know the make and model of your laptop to help you find the download). However you might be able to fix the problem more easily by using System Restore, to take your laptop's registry back to a date before the problem occurred. (Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore).
