maggots on the ceiling

over the last few days my wife and i have noticed five or six maggots on the ceiling of our kitchen,they're about 1cm in length and 2mm in width.can you please tell me whats going on ?

i had the same problem, as soon as got the rotting meat down they went away

Horrible as it may sound, you've probably got a dead something in the gap between the roof of the kitchen and the room above.  Flies have laid their eggs in it and the maggots are crawling out once they've hatched.  I would try and find what it is and remove while they're still at the maggot stage or the other maggots will hatch into flies and your kitchen will be full (and i mean full) of flies.

Oh, sounds intriguing....please post an update when you find out what it is Richard Wyke.  Do you have a murderer living upstairs....?
