can anyone help me with this question ? its on equility and diversity course.
a) describe what public bodies are required to do under the current legisiation.
b) give one reason why using legislation in this way is an effective methord of bringing about change.

I know a bit about employment law but I'm not sure about the exact legislation in regard to public bodies. I guess by this they're refering to our rights to health care, council services education etc.

Qs 35, List and describe the forms of discrimination
1 Prejudice, to prelude usually without adequate information
2 Indirect discrimination, selection criteria policies benefits employers rules or any other practices, which although they are applied to a employee have the effect of descanting people of a particular group unless the practice can be justified.
3,. Victimization/
It is when an employee is discriminated against for intending to make a complaint actually making a complaint or supporting someone else who is making the complaint.

Harassment,
Unwanted behaviour, deliberate or other wise directed at an individual or group of people that is found to be hostile, humiliating, sexual or in other ways offensive which violate the dignity of the victim & can create unbearable working environments.
5. Bullying.
Any unsolicited or unwell combed act which humiliates, intimidates or undermine the individual involved & which is aimed at making the person feel useless.
6.Stereotyping.
When all people from one population group are assumed to be all the same, all gay men are great dances & all Black people are good runners & all Asian people eat curry.
7. Assumptions.
Quite often assumptions can be made about people that cam be stereotyped to ensure our entire workforce is empowered within their role. We should never make assumptions about staff capabilities, gender, age, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
