america is a huge place and housing, like here, will vary considerably.

House prices over there also seem to drop with the age of the property, especially when its a wood frame building.

You cannot get any true idea of what it is like there until you visit the are that you are interested in.

as one comparisson, 5 years ago a 2 bed flat in Norfolk cost more than a 4 bed house with gardens etc in North Carolina.

mrmister, do you really think that people can answer such a question with an answer that would encompass everyone in the USA?
I grew up in the US but have lived here for 22 years. It really impossible to compare. As individuals Americans may be more 'relaxed' but as for the country as a whole...they can be uptight,narrow minded and incredibly isolated.
Just like here.
