I've got a really nasty cold right now that I'm coping with most of the time. However, I've got a pounding headache alongside it that's with me 24 hours a day and no amount of aspirin or paracetamol (600mg aspirin, 1000mg paracetamol) has much effect on it. I've even tried the combination as Anadin Extra. Can you offer me some advice please before I go mad?
Perhaps you have blocked sinuses or even a sinus infection. Try steaming over a bowl of hot water with a towel over your head. Something like Sudafed might help.
Do try Lofty'd suggestion with the steam - it really clears the head. If you have some, drop some Vick into the water, or Olbus Oil or Eucalyptus oil.
Make sure you're drinking plenty of water or squash, you might be a bit dehydrated with the cold and that always gives a headache. You need to flush it through you with plenty of liquids. Try hot squash, its quite soothing and if you can, take a rest from the painkillers and go to bed.
I don't want to be a doom giver (honest!) but if it persists, go to a doctor. Sometimes a headache is the sign of something else and only a doctor could advise.
Agreed, but MTbowels is unwell with a really nasty cold and it's hardly surprising he has a constant headache. Really would be surprised if it was anything more serious. However, if it continues after the cold clears up or if the cold persists, seeing a GP would be a good idea
