Who makes the engine in a mk4 Mondeo?

Not as daft as it may sound,but someone mentioned that peugeot made the engine not Ford.Also,if it was Ford,is it the same one as is in the mk3 as I have also heard bad things about them such as the internal cam belt jumping off-which I have been told is one of those horrid,very expensive jobs.
Any help would be great

The engines are either Ford or Volvo depending on the model. Haven't heard about any cambelt issues.

cam belts dont just jump off, imagine the grief FMC would get if that was the case.
Its usually lack of maintainance ie changing the belt as per the manufactures service schedule that causes the problem.
Are we talking petrol or diesel ??
