 olivia, we all only received our quizzes on friday, & have until saturday january 14th 2006 to find the answers, & you are asking for help already, i wonder if that is really fair?.

Can I suggest you put this question in olivia's thread, sniffa - it isn't a question that anybody else can answer.

I shall answer it. I hadnt seen her asking but I agree its far too early. The trouble is I will look at the answers when I want to suffer a bit first

Well said sniffa,  I think you have done the right thing posting a new thread.  If you post it in olivia's thread, then only she will see it.  Posting it as a new thread will also serve to alert other posters, and in particular answerers (if there is such a word) .  I for one wouldn't have seen it and now I will be wary of answering similar questions in the near future.

A similar thing happened a fortnight or so ago when there was a post asking for an answer to The Rainbow Quiz just one week into its three month life.

I think it is useful to alert everyone to these posts.  It is the quiz fanatics equivalent of the Harry Potter spoilers that were posted in A&L.

Oh dear...I feel awful now as I gave quite a few answers.
But the heading was just 'birds'.I had no idea this was a quiz that they send in.

 thank you all for your concern, have worked all night on the quiz & have now finished it, it was a hard slog but it's done, all the answers were obtained from books, so i have some degree of satisfaction.

I know someones going to say you dont have to look at the answers and I know thats right but 3 days in does seem pathetic. And those of who have the quiz will know she hadnt answered any herself. Surely GT by JS wasnt that hard - lol. I know she wont answer here but would love to know is she really that desperate to win the huge prize of �25.

Oh sorry, this is rot - this question was addressed to olivia - what the dickens are the rest of you doing answering a question that was not written for you?

Sniffa, you didn't HAVE to look through all of olivia answers!! - you could have posted there without looking at ANY of the answers there! This has NOTHING to do with the rest of us - now you have made some feel awkward for giving answers when there is absolutely NO NEED for them to do so. Well you got the response you wanted, didn't you!! - and NOT from the person who you addressed your question to!!!

If olivia has already asked all the books/authors questions, what should we be looking out to avoid now?

No one should feel guilty for answering they didnt know it was a new quiz but hopefully it will stop olivia asking anagram of birds/names, cryptic place names involving birds, and general knowledge questions relating to birds. Or at least until she has tried to answer some. I like sniffa did all the general knowledge ones using google so shouldnt she at least be trying to do some herself

Oh dear I,m hanging my head in same, its sackcloth and ashes until the end of the year. In mitigation I will say that I dont usually ask for answers until well into the quizzes and in the birds quiz I have worked on the rest of the quiz but couldn,t master the books/authors section. I promise to behave my self in the future and will not ask for help until the quiz nears its end, I woud add that I have helped other competitors in the past. Am I forgiven

 you are forgiven olivia, i seem to have stirred a real hornets nest up, i will help anybody to complete their answers nearer the date, as long as they have tried to find the answers,  winning is very nice , but the satisfaction of having all the answers correct is good too. i told elliegrace i will help her & i will, so i humbly apologise if i have upset you olivia.

thanks Sniffa and Smouse for your comments, I,m afraid I got carried away requesting answers, I dont do quizzes with the expectation of winning, but because I enjoyed quizzes. I had a rather rough 24 hours after reading all the comments ( I dont usually waken at 3am thinking about the answer bank, but I did last night,) to take my mind off it I have been walking today, all the way around Carsington reservoir 8.5miles. It was great to read sniffa's comment when I got back. All I need now is for Gen2 to accept my apology

I forgive too,especially as you have walked around carsington water,what a lovely place it is.I had 3 days in Matlock a couple of weeks ago,in fact I used to visit matlock quite regularly being as it is only about 10 miles away.
