85 year old bed ridden woman left alone for 3 days, if it wasn't for her neighbours she would be still stuck there with no food or drink

Indeed, and too many cases like this, so much isn't about care, its about money.
When we moved into our current home 6 years ago, the old chap next door had a carer call into him every day, he was tone deaf, so I knew when the carer was there, because of the raised voices. The day after New Year's Day, his telly had been blaring out all night, I said to Mr. Den, something is wrong - I saw the carer come and then go, without gaining access to the bungalow. I phoned the Police and they broke in, the old chap was dead in his armchair. Obviously the carer, didn't find it strange he could get access, and never reported it.

So this story doesn't surprise me. Very Very Sad.
Tha's dreadful .Poor old dear .
I have an elderly neighbour who's bedridden .She has carers go in but I sometimes wonder what they actually care about .
She phoned me recently and said she'd had no breakfast because one of them didn't know how to work the gas cooker because the battery had gone on her pilot light .
I ask you .Do they not know how to strike a match .
I often go in and sort out minor stuff that they should be doing .
They just do the basics .
Good job she has all her marbles but I still phone her morning and evening to see if she's alright .
I dread getting old and having to depend on others .

>> sometimes wonder what they actually care about <<

i do and it has nothing to do with people

it is a job and that is it
Its very scary, Shaney - my Dad (82) looks in on a few elderly neighbours and gets their papers and does little odd jobs for them. I could tell you some stories that would make your hair curl about carers, and what my Dad has found when looking in on the old folk. (:o((

there not then :)
I know Den .It's awful .I 've often gone in of a night and they haven't left her a drink and a few biscuits or something .The they leave the window open or something or the heating is on full blast in spite of the fact she's asked them to turn it down .
And ..the amount of food that goes walkies !
I know it has because I get shopping for her or put her stuff in with my on line delivery .!
Den, not me, i already know, from the so called carers i have seen with relatives and friends. Hospitals, care homes, as said before don't get old.
Cameron must feel quite proud worrying about people overseas when he should be putting taxpayers money into deserving cases at home. Charity starts at home!
